Traxxas T-Maxx
Here's a way to give your T-Maxx a lot more low end power and get rear exhaust at the same time, without spending $80 on a CVEC pipe and header!
The only thing you need to buy is the coupler that connects the exhaust header to the pipe in a nitro rustler (Traxxas part # 4451 you can get it at Tower Hobbies under $5!!!).
Take your stock T-Maxx header and flip it over so it points out the back, I had to take out my engine to do this....
Attach the nitro rustler part to the header with a zip tie, and mount your stock pipe to it parallel with the bumper (a-la CVEC). Then take a piece of 3/8 inch (inner diameter) silicon tubing and a small hose clamp and put it on the stinger to get all the oil and past the bumper, zip tie the pipe to the rear shock tower, and route the pressure hose under the shock tower so you can still put the body on.
The nice thing about the stock pipe is that your can position the pressure fitting anywhere you want in relation to the stinger, so that makes it easy to get them both heading the right direction. Here is a side view, notice they aren't 180 degrees from each other.(the green thing near the bumper is my sway bar)
The longer coupling makes for MONSTER low end, but your high end will suffer, but if you are going for top speed, you have the wrong truck! You will also notice the exhaust note is a bit deeper If you are the kind of person who likes your front wheels to stay in contact with the ground at all times, don't try this mod, cuz they WON'T! Don't get me wrong, its not going to wheelie on demand, but all it takes is a small bump in front of you when you take off, and you are 2 wheeling!!!. The tires barely make enough contact with the ground on take off to steer! And that's with only 10% Nitro!
ENJOY!!!
